look at the link, some marevellous conversion, otherwise horses without riders may indicate that the rider fell down, due to injury, being wounded etc.

That's pretty good shooting from the Allies. Almost every horse in the middle line is riderless. I count about 8 riders and over 100 horses.

We've seen this before here and commented on how many riderless horses there are….mind you, by the time they got to the top of the ridge……might not be too far off truth.

Even then, I'd expect horses would always be hit in even greater numbers than their riders! Bigger targets.
