So I picked up about 3,000 painted 6mm colonials at Little Wars this weekend in the flea market. British are based on 40x15 stands, zulus on what looks like 50x30.

What rules out there will work with this basing?

That Christopher 10mmWolde guy has great multi figure based Zulu Wars rules. I have played them. They rock.

For a neat DBA style thing, try Hordes of Natives (free rules)

Baccus may have some rules (they make the figures)

Black Powder…I've used these with my 6mm Zulus and thought they worked really well. There's also the recent supplement for this period which has some useful scenarios.

Hi EC and Smokey! Thanks for the props! I'm glad that people outside of the "Greater Scandinavian Wargaming Club, Helsinki Chapter" were able to enjoy them. ;)

EC, I'm not sure if my Zulu rules ever made it to the free wargames rules web page, so here is a download link:

The rules are fast-flowing and set at a high level, between larger forces, but I was happy with the way they captured the ebb and flow of the battles – your new figures will work very well with them. The QRS fits on a playing card!

Cheers,

Christopher

I've used Martian Empires in the past…

Battles For Empires v2 would suit

Someone once posted a one page set on here as a post (not a link) but I'm Bleeped texted if I can find them again. I think they were used at a show in the UK for a refight of Isandlwhana (or however it is spelt), about 2 years or so ago.

Clash of Iron works well.

Volley and Bayonet. If you like, I can send you my Colonial Modifications.

I still use my HMGS nominated Induanas! Colonels and Emirs! 1:10 scale or 1:15 scale. Rules for mass combat in the colonial world. With 6mm the bases are more important than the men on the base. 3 or 4 bases per company unit. Zulusa would be 4 to 6 bases per unit.

Smokey Roan29 Apr 2014 3:41 p.m. PST

Oh yeah, Rudy, I know those rules. Good ones!

We are liking the DBA variants with attrition rules. Good fun and you have carryover of "hits" from previous rounds.
