Approximately when did Soviet (and for that matter, WarPac) armored vehicles go from overall green to a camo pattern? I seem to remember late 80s, but I was hoping to find a more definitive year. Thanks.

I first saw one in camo at a UAE IDEX IN 1989 (Abu Dhabi I think???) – a T80…

Had quite bright yellow wavy bands superimposed on khaki bands over OG.

Export versions, presented at military shows were normally painted in camo of potential buyers.
In my time in the army I think I've seen a couple of tanks, also T-80 on one of the exercises in 1986.
In 1991, during August GKCHP events, Kantemirov unit that was moved into Moscow had some of their tanks in camo, too.
