Border guards location is captured, and border guards are either detained or allowed to leave.
Government said that the troops were "relocated" ;)

They were calling for support from the military for several days, but apart of air strikes nothing happened.

General opinion in the East is that the army will increase the activity in order to get rid of opposition before Poroshenko inaguration, however it is not clear if they are able to finish everything within a week -even with usage of heavy artillery, and airstrikes.

Locals will continue to disarm locations, loyal to Kiev government if they can.

While the people are tired of the war on their streets, they're split in opinion who is to blame – Kiev or separatists. One of the potentially serious groups – miners – are not clear with their allegiance so far, there was a small pro-DNR rally with 2000 of them, but we're talking of over 50000.

As for killed Russians – those, supporting the government got their confirmation of foreign involvement, those in the East got confirmation that even that Russia is not bringing troops in the East, at least it is not preventing volunteers from coming.

Difficult to say what happened. As I indicated above, hard for a land army to get that far fast without extending itself across unknown territory, meaning it could only really be supported by air assault, and they don't have the capacity in the same way as ,say, the US Air Force would for strike.

It would appear logical, in the face of increasing attack as other groups were able to join them in the assault, and with the government to be unable to mount an effective support from a distance, that they would have little choice but to surrender in the long term.

Most of the guards seem to have been allowed to leave, having spiked their weapons first:
