I was wondering if I could get a little help for my mother. She had an aunt, Ann Regner, who did classified work in Washington D.C. during World War 2. To the day she died she never explained what exactly she did there, it was a "state secret". My mother recalls a photo of Ann around that time, one of few women (in civilian dress) in a group of men in uniform. Ann was from Wisconsin and was fluent in several Scandinavian languages. My mother always wondered what she did, she suspects code breaking but she would like to know for sure. Is there any way I can find out? Thank you. |

Any idea what department or agency she worked for? |

Submit a request for her personnel records from the National Archives. Then you can learn who she worked for, which would be the first step. |

No, I don't know who she worked for, sorry. Would the National Archives be open to non-Americans? I am and my mother became Canadian. |

Yes, the National Archives are open to Canadians. We try to keep a bit more class, but that broke down a while ago, and now they'll let anyone query. :-) |
