yarkshiregamer.blogspot.co.uk Evening All, Whilst everyone is drooling over the new Perry plastic Continentals I have finally got round to painting some plastic Brits I have had for years. Come out nice again as they say in't dale. Cheers Ken |

Very nice indeed, I also almost spat me tea when I read the comment about the rear view of the unit. |

The 1st battle of the revolution was recently celebrated. In that battle the colonial militia and minutemen saw the backs of the elite companies of the British army the entire afternoon. BTW, very nice work. |

Very nice work- you Brits love a terrained base, we can't seem to get that involved in basing the units over here-nice craft. I was looking at the plastics but dread the construction, (AADD) I think I am going to go with the Old Glory metals for the same price, actually a little cheaper with the army card discount of 40%- not as good a sculpt in my opinion, but no building and they have a heft to them. Too bad about your flags, I will keep that in mind when I get to that stage. |

Very nicely done, Ken. I think I prefer the figures without the tumplines. |

Very nicely painted, but I don't understand why they are half way back on the bases. |

Hi Ironicon, It stems from my use of plastic figs as a kid, the figs are "hard" plastic which in my experience means they are quite brittle. Any figure which has parts hanging over the edge of the base has a considerably bigger chance of being knocked during normal gaming activities. Metal figs I have found bend slowly in a manner which leaves the paint attached to the figure, plastic figs when knocked tend to shatter the paint. Added to that the muskets on the Perry figs are quite thin, not a criticism they are to scale but I have little confidence in them survivng contact with a gamer for a weekend game. So its a protective measure, I probably could have used bases with a depth of 50mm but being lazy I had a load of 60mm deep bases frpm my WW2 Desert project, so used them. Hope that helps. |

The least vulnerable combination for accidental knocking over I've found is plastic figures with weighted bases (coin, washer, etc). Makes the centre of gravity *very* low. |
