Tonight I had a go at painting MTP (the current British cammo pattern) on some of my 15mm GZG NAC minis. I'm happy enough with the results even for a test. The colours aren't exact, I've used what I had at hand and as it's sci-fi I can get away with it. More on my blog. |

LOL i had the same idea and was going to ask what colors were applied first dark to light i would have thought, and what size brush or was the camo stippled on with a old tooth brush? Zac Edit on closer inspection the camo has been painted on with a brush. |

You don't see the older NAC sculpts that often. Nicely painted. |

Thanks for all the nice comments guys. I can't remember the exact colours, I'm on the train home from work right now. Ill dig out the codes for them tonight, all paints were Vallejo. Base coat was khaki with a thinned down wash of army painter strong tone. The base coat was then reapplied , then I added patches of olive green mixed with a small amount of khaki. Next was patches of brown mixed with khaki to lighten them. I then added thin lines of German grey (which is very very dark to the point of being almost black) in a roughly horizontal direction. I then mixed white with khaki and painted them the same way as the German grey. Ill dig out the tutorial I used too, it was for painting MTP on a 28mm figure. |

Avamango, the tutorial I used is here – tolcrothlogan.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/painting-british-mtp-camo.html The colours I used were all Vallejo, apart from the ink which was Army Painter. 988 Khaki 894 Cam Olive Green (lightened with a touch of khaki) 984 Flat Brown (lightened with a touch of khaki) 995 German Grey 951 White Army Painter strong tone watered down (25% water/75% ink) Keith, feel free to steal. Once I get a few more of these under my belt I might post up a tutorial on my blog. SpleenRippa, They are great sculpts, really easy to paint. I was planning to only use them as test paints but it has came out well enough that I'll finish them off. I also have some of the original 15mm NAC done by GZG way back in the 1990's I think. Really small and skinny, not useable with any of the current crop of 15mm. |

Bit of an update on this, while I was painting the bases with Vallejo Khaki Grey I gave the minis a quick highlight too. Glad I did as not only did it highlight them, it also toned down the green and brown. I wanted duller colours and this happy accident has done that for me without having to look for lighter shades. A bit of tidying up and they are good to go.
I now have 2 x 4 man fire teams of the newer NAC sculpts ready for base coating. |
