Can someone kindly assist me with the correct number of French Paratroop platoons that made up a Company in 1954, during the Dien Bien Phu battles – is it three, as I am led to believe, or four, as someone has recently stated to me.

I have purchased a number of the Red Star Miniatures range of Dien Bien Phu 28mm figures and mighty fine they are. Really excellent figures. I am very pleased with them. I intend to game a bunker/trench assault.

Thanks in advance.

Go grab the latest edition of Modern Warfare magazine. It has a decent set of orbits for both sides.

You can get the magazine only version for $7 USD or so.

G'Day Gents

There were three combat sections and one command section for each compagnie.

Each combat section had three combat groups and one command groupe.

Each Groupe (squad) consisted of a shock team that lead and a supporting fire team. The shock team were equipped with sub-machineguns…and the fire team used rifles and medium machineguns.

Hope that helps

How many troops in the squad were shock and how many rifles?
