I like walkers, mecha, or whatever you like to call them. They just scream sci-fi. One thing that is under-explored is the form of walkers besides those designed just to shoot the enemy; what of infantry carriers, air defense, artillery vehicles, etc.? So below we have a force of walkers based heavily on the EU's L5 Riesig walker from Battlefield 2142. On the table, these are roughly 12.5mm tall; in scale, they would be roughly 7 meters or 24 feet tall. The red silhouettes are 3mm from toes to nose.
Thought I'd share! Thanks, jav98 |

I did a test upload to Shapeways and they passed the test for printing in all the Detail materials, so that's good. Before I uploaded them, I separated each walker (except the recon one) into torso and leg/pelvis pieces; this will allow the gamer to position the torsos in different orientations, if they wish. One innovation that I included was a "no-brainer" option to make it easy to position the torsos prefectly straight forward: on the little pintle piece protruding from the bottom of the torso, there is a tab that fits into a slot in the side of the hole in the pelvis; this will ensure the torso is straight, but if the gamer wants to have the torso turned, they just have to break the tab off and assemble as usual! Voila! Yes, sometimes I amaze even myself

Really nifty idea. Sadly I'm the wet blanket who always thinks walkers make no sense what so ever. Ah but horses for courses. I love me some non-sensical aether-flyers

"Sense"? Sir, this is sci-fi we're talking about! "Sense" rarely factors into it! |
