Gamecraft Minis make some great buildings in a variety of mediums-

Other manufacturers in 1/72: 20 mm ( my scale) include Britannia Miniatures – a village compound and a shop/market …..North African/Mid East mud brick houses from Hovels (listed as 25 mm but great for 20 too),
Front line Wargaming – a single story house…..Italeri North African house…some others--

I can highly recommend the US and Taliban from Empress. As for buildings, mud brick buildings are easily made from foam board covered in spackle.

In case you want to go the DIY way,
check out Matakishi's Tea House. Great tutorials on Afghan buildings/compounds!

Foamcore buildings on expanded polystyrene sheets, matchstick ladders aquarium plants, lots of superglue and a couple of pots of paint samplers.
An individual building takes about 20 min, the boards are made so they can be joined on different sides, actually really very easy and fun – the sister in law watched the village created from the 1st building, and is now involved finding aquarium plants "that a sniper can hide in"
Play skirmish sangin with Brits and Taliban at the moment

You might want to consider Miniature Building Authority and our line of 25mm Middle Eastern Buildings. Fully assembled, painted in durable resin, most convert into ruins.
