I've just posted a couple of thoughts on painting some of the Spanish army at Ocana in November 1809 – I'm thinking of painting one or two battalions using AB figures intended as Portuguese using British equipment: link

Would this work? And could I use the intended command as is? Or would I need a Spanish officer wearing a regular Spanish uniform?

The Spanish certainly were able to acquire British uniforms and equipment. Tracking down which particular units had it this early, let alone if any of them brought it to this battle, would be a nightmare. Nothing wrong with a few units like this as there were bound to be some. Most of my Spanish are older white uniforms with mixed guerrilla and militia units. Many of the British uniforms were supplied after this battle and to armies further north and west than where this army was located.

Militia style should be noticeably represented.
