Saddle Up!

It's Easter and time to get aboard the mechanised infantry show. We take a look at Battlefront's new plastic US Armored Rifle and German Panzergrenadier platoon boxed sets: link

Interesting that the boxed set of German Panzer Grenadiers in metal aren't currently available. Wonder if this means they aren't going to produce the metal ones any more.

I can't work out the difference in platoon pricing. Both German and U.S.packs contain 48 figures with 5 vehicles in the American box and 4 in the German. I don't get how one extra vehicle merits a differential of £9.00 GBP between them. (British price being £35.00 GBP for the US and £26.00 GBP for Germans)

Note this isn't Battlefront bashing, I just can't see the logic.

I thought the same until I considered that there's 2 mortars and 2 .30 cal MG 'kits' in this set. Whether this warrants the price difference will be up to the consumer :)

I thought maybe the over fed Americans versus scrawny Germans might have accounted for more plastic being used.

Good review though, thanks.

The US box also has an additional 7 plastic bases, an extra vehicle, and more dudes.

A great review which answered all my questions – comparing them against the PSC equivalents was spooky – it seems like you know what questions I have before I do!

Gotta' admit I don't like the turn to plastics, but it's mainly because I don't like putting together kits. A few pieces are ok, but for some it's like putting together the model plastic kits of old.

JustinModelDads20 Apr 2014 2:40 a.m. PST

The kits themselves are relatively straight-forward and have none of the irritating flashing of metal kits. Big bits make for easily assembly: no more or less than the old resin kits. Give it a whirl with any of the plastic kits out there and I think you might be pleasantly surprised. I was.

As for review content: been doing it for a while now. Got to know what folk like :)

As always, constructive feedback welcomed! :)
