Like it says on the tin, I'm looking for diagrams of troop formations, specifically for the Peninsular War (but I will certainly accept others). I'm planning on using O8's 3mm troops and model battalions about 1:1 (I think it works out to 3 minis for every 4 actual men), so I want to put the sergeants, officers, file closers, etc in their proper locations. Where would I find that information, and are there any diagrams of it (yes, I'm feeling lazy, I don't want to translate text into pictures before basing my troops). Thanks in advance! |

There is also a website, (?), Napolun, that has the kind of diagrams you are looking for, if I remember correctly, and it is quick and easy to access. John Miller |

Osprey has published 5 volumes on Tactics used in the Nap wars which have contemporary formation drawings and modern artwork showing such tactical formations. The one on British Infantry tactics specifically shows the Reverse Slope line etc used in the Peninsular
The French one by the late, great Paddy Griffith I would particularly recommend. |

Napolun and napoleonistyka.atspace.com are mirrors of each other, though it seems the mirroring is sometimes imperfect as I'll find a broken link on one that either works on the other or doesn't exist

Go buy Nafzinger's Imperial Bayonets :-p Hrm
that's $70 USD or more. Guess I need to put that on the wishlist. Ok, the Ospreys: I've found Napoleonic Light Cavalry Tactics, Napoleonic Heavy Cavalry and Dragoon tactics, Prussian Napoleonic Tactics, French Napoleonic Infantry Tactics, and British Napoleonic Infantry Tactics. Isn't there a Napoleonic Artillery tactics book? |

Lion in the Stars, Looks like George sells it directly from link for $60 USD it looks like. I bought it from him at Little Wars and I swear he sold it for less there but maybe I am misremembering. Cheers, The Bandit |

Bandit: I owe you an apology. I wasn't aware that the two web sites were one in the same. Sorry. John Miller |

Not an Osprey 'Arty Tactics' as such, yet
However it you are interested in this area, and can track down a copy, get a hold of Paddy Griffith's 'French Artillery' by Altmark. Actually a uniform guide, but replete with information and a few graphics about the tactical employment of artillery and a treatise on Senarmont's artillery charge at Friedland. |

John Miller, Apology accepted, though completely unnecessary because
I mean, no big deal. It is weird because I've found pages on one that don't appear on the other so it would seem they are an imperfect mirror. Cheers, The Bandit |
