Hi, all. I've read multiple posts on this topic but now I'm in a position where I have a HUGE pile of DF boxes (and accompanying styrofoam inserts for said boxes) that are taking up a large part of my basement. As spring is allegedly here or around the corner (we just got snow again in Wisconsin yesterday) and the inevitable spring cleaning is approaching, I'm on the precipice of getting rid of these boxes. I have all of my Dwarven Forge pieces in nice plastic storage tubs on my hobby shelves but am torn about getting rid of the boxes & foam. I'm looking for a bit of a sanity/reality check here and would appreciate some feedback: Has anybody transported DF pieces in plastic storage tubs and had any problems with breakage or problems with chipping? |

We always stuffed blankets and the like in and around the pieces in the tubs when moving such stuff. |

Go to a big lots type store and buy bar towels. Really cheap and you can use htem to wrap and or seperate pieces so they don't rub/chip during shipment. I have done this with all of my MBA buildings and pieces and never had a problem. The only thing I would keep the boxes and foam around for is if you intend to sell anything. Then they are handy for shipment and marketing the items. |

I asked about this a while back and agree with the above advice. The BIG concern is resale--it is much easier to do so if you retain the original boxes and styrofoam. Otherwise, plastic tubs or boxes is the way to go. I am a big fan of Really Useful Boxes--the flatter, bigger ones make good storage for MBA buildings, and medium size ones will work for resin Dwarven Forge terrain (I have my newer Dwarvenite DF tiles in smaller/medium boxes). Line the boxes with a blanket or piece of foam, then wrap each piece once in felt pieces or towels or whatever. Then another top layer of foam/blanket over the pieces and that should be fine. |

Thanks, all. That makes sense. We don't have a move on our radar anytime in the near future but you never know. Regarding re-sale, I'm not planning on selling this stuff. I have a son that all of this will go to should I snuff it earlier than anticipated. He's on his own with the stuff then but judging by how crazy he is about it all, he won't likely sell it off any time soon once he comes into possession of the goods. Rwphillipsstl--I found some comparable storage bins that work out nicely. I can get two to three sets per box, laid out really nicely in each. Thanks again for the great suggestions! |

Id just keep them in the original boxes if you have them. Store the individual boxes in some large plastic totes and store them in a corner. Where in Wisconsin are you? Im just north of Milwaukee. Looking for new players?

Hey, Chuck. I'm in Madison. I've been trying to "get the band back together" for awhile with some of my former players but schedules have clashed. I'll likely get a bit more serious about recruiting a bit later this spring/early summer for a Friday night home-brew RPG that I run. |
