Hello all,

My group is using a 1:30 ratio for Carnage and Glory and other rulesets, as a base or guide if you will.

A typical (24 figures)French battalion being one company per base, 6 40mm square bases per unit.

So I volunteered to paint the British. I figure its a 10 company structure, approx. 600 men per average battalion. So 5 40mm bases of 20 figures per unit. 1 base equalling 2 companies.

Opinions very welcome brothers.

Sounds good to me. That is probably how I would do it. Maybe splitting one of the british bases into two 40x20mm bases for the flank companies.

I do 6x4 figures for British battalion. I base on 40x50mm for a bit more depth. I put 2 flank company figures (sometimes 3) at each end of the line. If I want skirmish figures I just paint a few extras and base separately.

That's how I don mine too, albeit with smaller figures and smaller bases.

Guess I'm different, but iirc French btns were usually a tad bigger than many Brits. For most Brits I'd do five bases of 4 figs – two figs per coy.

That would give say 8 or so bases for the big units….Guards etc
