Just finished off Xyston Celts as Ancient Britons and looking for an Early Imperial opponent (preferably rectangular shield, lamellar armour). Anyone have views on the most suitable manufacturer? Regards Alan

Hi Alan, can highly recommend the Corvus Belli Imperial Romans.

I painted some up a couple of years ago: link

very pleased with how they look.

I'd second Corvus Belli.
Warmodelling are good but lack the cavalry.
OG15s are pretty decent.

There's quite a few photos of Corvus Bell's EIR range in our gallery.

CB are going to look small next to your Xystons which could be a good thing since Romans were smaller than their Celtic neighbours.

But CB make some of the best EIR. Also give OG15s a look as well. They come with plumes but I easily snipped them off.

Always had a fondness for Essex and Rebel Minis has some nice EIR.

Most of my EIR collection is by Old Glory 15s. I like them very much and have added to them with interesting figures from Essex and Corvus Belli. Corvus Belli makes some great figures of Roman soldiers in marching dress. You can see my EIR figures at link

Blue Moon aren't Early Imperials, OG, they're Late Republicans.

Not the one they will be releasing soon.

"Best 15 mm EIR- no contest really"

Not when the OP prefers not to have the mailed legionaries.

They are also a bit static and don't include all the troops you'd probably want.
