Just read my first H.P. Lovecraft short and thought everyone should be made aware of this fact…. Good luck in the post-Clthulhu world….

Which story did you read?

My personal favorite is Shadow Out of Time.
I'm also partial to Shadow over Innsmouth and At the Mountains of Madness.

… but yes, we're all doomed.

Of course Cthulhu lives. To quote:

"That is not dead which can eternal lie, yet with stranger eons, even death may die."

Same goes for Elvis, of course.

Still remember the first story of his I read, 'Horror at Red Hook'. It struck me especially because it opens in Pascoag RI and I was reading it in Pascoag. Probably about 40 years ago.

Ever noticed how you never see Elvis and Cthulhu in the same room.

Pretty sure there's a photo of the two of them together at one of the King's Vegas shows. The Big C kind of stands out in the audience, even with one of those little Shriner fez hats on.

Lovecraft encouraged other writers to write in his world. Robert E Howard was one of them. But people have held the torch since HPL's death and there are countless excellent stories out. They are still being written by todays best authors and superstars of the future as well. Its a fun ride if you get obsessed like I did. There are many amazing book out there.

One of my modern favorites is Thomas Ligotti. Not overtly Mythos/Lovecraftian usually but definitely in the same weird vein.
Also, some of Ramsey Campbell's Lovecraftian stuff is great… particularly The Voice Of The Beach.
