Just posted pictures of my finished 28mm river boards on my blog: link All boards are 50cm x 50cm and designed to be arranged on a modular basis. Enjoy, Burkhard P.S.: here is the usual pre-view (as always more clickable pictures on the blog itself):

Looking good. How did you do the water? It looks like several coats of varnish over paint, or did you go with resin? db |

Beautifully done Burkhard and, having read your blog, the difference between this and your first pass is like night and day. Are you giving odds on the King Tiger making it to the other side of the table, by the way? |

Looks great. You did a good job on the bridge, especially for a first attempt. |

Thank you all a lot guys! @evilgong: It is just smooth MDF painted in a dark chocolate brown. One coat of high gloss varnish making sure the brushstrokes always follow the direction of the river. Then one go with a green wash over the whole width and another one (once the previous one had dried) along the edges. Then two more coats of high gloss varnish, again following the direction of the river. For the ripples around the large bridge i used water paste from Vallejo, but this is not necessary. @plutarch: Well it seems strong enough, but there is only 1mm space either side! The Königstiger model with the bend skirts I have does not fit the bridge. To the other side of the table
well as long as he reverses and moves over dry land and uses the ford, he should be fine. Otherwise it all depends on his bog test! @Mark: Thanks a lot. I was hoping for that and for yet a better job on the next carving! |

Really nice work. Its great to see a bridge sitting down into the water, rather than up and over like most war-games ones have to. One little suggestion – on the swamp but, perhaps add some more greenery to the banks, to suggest they are boggy and swampy too? |

Thanks guys! @ Fred: That is something I could never stand either, which is part of the reason I went this way! |
