Hi all, I've just completed a welcome addition to my French light cavalry.
The 1st Hussars have an illustrious war record and interestingly have Oporto 1809 down as a Battle Honour. If you would like to know more about this unit then as always just follow the link to JJ's jjwargames.blogspot.co.uk Jonathan |

Nice paint work, good to see the authentic shade of Argentinian Grey being used. You may want to pick out the company pompoms under the plumes for the line hussars for a touch more colour though
Easy to do and adds a lot

Cheers guys. Sparker. I was in two minds about the pom poms. As you know it is difficult to get references that agree about this stuff, and I was using Rousselot and Bucquoy as my principle sources. I wanted an 1809 look and so went for the 1807 source. Bucquoy has several with all black plumes and pom-poms while Rousselot shows coloured. You pays your money and you takes your choice. I might add pompom colours as they certainly give the eye a bit more contrast. Thanks for the comments Jonathan |

Fair enough Jonathan – I'm not familiar with Bucquoy. Looking at Joineau's French Hussars Vol2, he confirms Bucquoy showing them with out pompoms but also gives tables of Rigo and Malibran showing the Company schemes for pompoms – which are different! |

Yes, good work indeed, and nice comments folks, but no-one noticed that the trumpet should have a RED dolman and pelisse
Sorry! I also back up the comments about the pompons : red, and black feathers. "Courage!" you're almost there! |
