McDonald's appears to have dealt the most severe blow yet to Russia, after their annexation of Crimea, shuttering three of their restaurants in the region, indefinitely: link A Russian politician has called for retaliation, by shuttering all of McD's restaurants there, but as Mr. Putin and others have said, that would cut both ways, since a lot of the items sold by the chain come from Russia. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. The Russian politician has also made threats, saying Pepsi is next. So, stock up while you still can comrades. For the wargaming tie-in, Russian troop morale drops by one point due to this. |

They also shut down on a few US military bases recently as their leases were up for renewal. Conjecture is it may be related to the minimum wage executive order for federal contracting link |

Wargamer Blue +1 I haven't eaten any McDonald's product in well over 30 years. Their "food" is barely worthy of the name. Everything tasted too sweet, including the burger buns. There are much better mom-and-pop burger joints in town, when I'm hungry for a burger and can't cook my own. I only ever ate one Papa John's pizza for the same reason: the crust and the pizza sauce were both too sweet, and there are much better pizza joints in town, too. |

Putin is right, boycotting hurts the little guys who are hurting enough already. This will not in anyway effect Mr. R. McDonalds lifestyle. |

Correct, since Ronald McDonald(s) is/are now endorsing Taco Bell's breakfast offerings. |

I remember queues of more than a kilometer when the first McD was opened in Moscow. However it was a looong time ago. During last years KFC, Subway and Burger King joined the game, as well as some smaller local networks. Don't see a problem really – however, some people most likely lost their jobs as I doubt they love McD more than the place where they were born. It looks so petty really
I'm not expecting Boeing cancelling their titanium contracts with Russia, bcs it will hit them badly.., ;) |

In the 90's went to Moscow's Museum of the Revolution and walked through gallery after gallery of propaganda, extolling the virtues of communism and predictions of it's eventual triumph over the decadent capitalists. Then went to lunch at the Pizza Express nearby, quite ironic! |
