My box arrived yesterday and I am extremely impressed! I own the first one they did with the slightly bendy and rough minis so was able to compare. What a difference! These new casts are so much cleaner and crisp. The plastic is completely different too – solid and hard.
Not only that, but the printed materials are on heavier stock and the maps are of lovely, heavy board game quality.
I am a very happy customer! It's a highly recommended purchase in my opinion :)
(My original set has been donated to my friend's 11 year old boy. Gotta get 'em while they're young!)

Ugh, I have the previous printing and now I feel bad.

Did they fix the issue with some of the models being ridiculously thin? That poor Atlas looked like he had been starving.

Ha! He is still slim, mainly in the legs. They are the same sculpts but new moulds I believe…
Photos here from the Battletech site. But I don't believe these photos do the new prints justice!

Oh they do look massively improved.

Hunh! Yep, I have the older set, and those new ones do indeed look better… CthulhuPunk, those are nice comparison shots.

Wow,
That is a massive improvement. Clicking on the pics to get a closeup really shows the difference. I've got the old box, but I'll probably figure out some way to get the new one now, and I don't even play battletech!

They do look good. Man, and I just picked up the old set used. :)
Mostly I am interested in the figs. I wonder if there will be much of an eBay market for broken up boxes?

How do the new miniatures compare size wise to the iron wind stuff? I noticed the minis in the box set and smaller then the Iron wind ones.

The new plastics? They are made using the same masters as the Iron Wind Metals figures. I got the new set and the new plastics look almost exactly identical to the metals I own.

I a/b'd a Dragon from the last intro set and an IW metal one: plastic is smaller but not by much. I suspect when painted the difference will vanish.

I just got mine too. Nicely put together box. This is my first time getting into BT but not playing ttg. Anyone know of any good sitse for beginners or what kind of lances to build with whats in the box?
