Tom Cruise versus drones, anyone?

The layers of awfulness that rose up in my mind might be hard to wash away…

This is a remake that they should walk away from.

The only thing good about the original movie was the soundtrack, and even that has not aged well. But maybe my perception was skewed as I watched it on the screen at 29 Palms with about 300 other marines.

Never watched it a second time.

Now, they want to do this new version? I'd rather see an updated Blue Max or an original film on Albert Ball.

Agreed, the original is really a terrible movie, with laughable effects.

Wasn't "Stealth" really the successor to TG? Aircraft carrier, Pacific Ocean, naval UCAV…

@Justin – I'd like to see more WWI, but then we've gotten Flyboys and that Richtofen biopic in the last decade or so and they don't bode well if that is modern moviemaking's idea of WWI in the air. I don't think it ticks any of their boxes.

Fun mindless movie.

@Ditto Two Three, it might have been a bit of bias from the USMC vs USN banter, but I am not sure. The only parts that were not being booed, in the theatre, were when Tom Cruise was not on screen.

On the other hand Risky Business was VERY popular within my company, but already know the why for that. :)

@boy wundyr x, I agree, with the two you mentioned, we're basically SOL until the movie business removes their collective craniums from their collective rectums.

Stealth was great, since the CGI looked very good, and the storyline wasn't half bad either.

Especially loved the air combat and slow-motion aerial "dance" sequence with the Sukhois.

I'd love to see a decent sequel, but they'd need to do a better job on the storyline and air combat sequences than the original.

Perhaps, with decent funding, writer(s), and director, it could be done.

Bruckheimer? Oh dear God no…. TG was a fun, unassuming little romp of a movie. What it doesn't need is a sequel (especially by Bruckheimer).

Will Maverick and Iceman finally tie the knot?

Great story, needs a better soundtrack to truly be "Top Gun 2".

Ubercommando, my wife kept saying, "Oh, for God's sake, just go ahead and kiss already."
