Hi, I have built and painted a Teutonic Order army and it has sat unused for many years, I now having a rule set i like need to create a foe for this force, the options are obviously the pagans. i have used kallistra figures.

so the question is which of the pagans are the easiest to model and what figures do you recommend to use as these troop types, I know kallistra has an eastern european medieval set. I have googled for the last, well nearly two hours and cannot for the life of me find any pictures of non Teutons. so do not know how many or which kallistra figures can be used. I hope the question makes sense< if not I will try and be a little more clear.

thanks
jon

I would go with a Lithuanian force. Molniya miniatures makes a great range of figures for the Lithuanians.

The best way to go would be to use DBA and do the five armies for the campaign. Small forces, all very different, from Slavs to Polish Knights.

Another option for a foe is Novgarod.

I agree with Janner, go with Novgarod. The latest Medieval Warfare magazine has several articles about the campaigns with the Russians.

I can second the SOA booklet. Very good and very helpful.

Alot of there fighting was against the Prussian tribes. Gripping Beast has what you need to do Prussians.

I cover these in my Crusader Warfare supplement for Day of Battle.

What period are your Teutonics?

13C – Prussians, or Nevsky Russians for the iconic Peipus battle.
14C – Lithuanians
15C – Poles and/or Lithuanians
