When a unit flees, if the unit has an officer figure of the same troop type intermixed with the unit, can he flee also, or is he stuck in a vulnerable position? |

Now he is a separate unit – and he cannot flee due to the fact if he suffers a casualty to activate a moral test he is either dead or someone near him is! EDIT : I was assuming flee from HTH – if it is shooting it is slightly different The Officer cannot be targeted if he is intermingles so you can assign hits to other figures. He again only needs to roll for moral if he is killed so no he cannot in effect flee – but what usually happens is the rest run then your opponent gets another card before your officer who si now standing alone and gets full of holes |

I think TT has the gist of it. but I am confused about the HTH. consider: a british unit and british officer are in HTH with a french unit. The french unit causes more casualties all taken by the british unit (with any hits on the officer transfered to the other unit as per the officer rules). since the british side lost the combat, shouldn't the british officer and the british unit take a reaction test? you still could get a result where the unit flees (even with the +1 from the nearby officer) and the officer stays to fight on by his lonesome. or vice versa i guess. -Stew |

Ok rereading p 20 Melee – multiple combats Each unit suffers its attacks ie by those in contact only separately, but the side that loses the most rolls its reaction test and applies the results to all units.Even units that suffered no casualties So, the officer may Run or he may stand and fight on his own – after all he may drive off the enemy – this is real last of the Mohicans stuff |
