I was lucky enough to win this on Ebay:
30 new on sprue with six poorly assembled and a bit covered in glue… so the six that weren't on the sprues were perfect for a bit of conversion. Here is the first one:
There are areas that I think need changing… but it is a gradual process so the next one will reflect the changes. Comments welcome :) I have enough bolters, Catachan Lasguns, Cadian Lasguns and the ones that came in this box of guard… which weapons do you think would be best for the troops (I am not sold on the old school lasguns :( ). |

I haven't converted the first six yet… and I tend to get a taste for things that I enjoy doing… how hard can it be to convert all 30 :) ? Anyway, the next one has been finished. In my opinion, the proportions are much more Squat like than the first one but the bolter looks a bit big for him… please feel free to comment :) :
And I was asked to put together a guide to make them… it is on my blog if you are interested: link The next one will be a bit more involved because I'll have to sort out bent legs rather than straight ones… so a little more chopping and sculpting will be involved :) . |

Thanks :) I'm working on a Dreadnought for them… like the ones the IG used to have back in the Rogue Trader days :) It doesn't look like Chuck, Eddy or Fury though :D |

Here is the squad of my converted Squats all together:
… and after a spot of luck on Ebay, I managed to get some proper plastic Squats (20 on the sprue!). Unfortunately, two of them didn't have heads so I needed to make them:
As you can see, there is a difference in size and proportion so I will be using the proper Squats as a heavy weapon platoon with self propelled, heavy weapons (with stowage space for equipment and personal weapons). I am thinking of using the little gun-drones from Anvil Industries: link … another diversion… |

At one time I had nearly every squat that GW made. I sold off most of them but still have a fairly heavy box that I've never really figured out what to do with. Like them enough that I won't part with them but feel sad for never really using them. I have some of the plastic squats but the arms really let them down. Strange poses that don't really work on the bodies. I really like what you've done with these. I like the old imperial army figures too and this is a great combination. |

Cheers :) I've been tinkering with some bits and bobs to build some mobile weapons platforms for the proper Squats (rather than my converted ones)… I have used some IG bits, plastic bircks and some old Epic landraiders… here's a WIP:
I've also started the Warlord. Here's a VERY WIP pic:
