Foamboard, spackle, and magnetic strip for the wall top (carved into a stone pattern then painted) and the wooden firing platform on the inside is magnetic strip (1/16 thick) scored into wood planking and drybrushed.

Looks better than the poor picture quality.

Magnetic wall top so the bad guys can stand on wall.

Modular, this is the corner wall section, each side holds up to six defenders. Just set it up with other buildings for looks.

For sci fi, I just add some sections of corregated cardboard, and metallic cpainted strips of styrene or cardstock (bent up, rusty (some rusty, others shiny non rusting alloys) add rivit holes and weld marks, and you got a desert people wall for sci fi.

OMG. Too cool!

That center section with the log cribbing is removeable, so it looks like a gateway, and can be a gateway. held in place by magnetic strips :)

I like it. It looks almost like Paradise City on Nimbus III.

The magnetic strip idea is worth stealing.

Consider it stolen. I might give you credit. But probably not.

Buy it in rolls, at Michaels, always on sale for like $1.99 USD a 6 foot roll. Is about 1/2" wide.

Stciky adhesive backing as well.

Can be scored, carved , and takes paint great, and still has magnetic capability!

Just don't do what I did with my 10mm "Not Rorkes Drift" fort.

I had magnetic walls and mealie bag perimeter, and my 10mm Zulus were based on small, magnetic metal discs.

Well, I didn't think about polarity, and my Zulus would jump off the wall, then stick to other Zulus. :(#

In this system, it's magnetic walls, steel washer bases!

I won't tell you how my rare earth magnetic bases turned out. (I had an "in" on getting custom ones from a factory). Damn figures moved bythemselves, and you couldn't seperate them!

In a word 'Abydos' being scratch built it looks very rough and irregular in a good way which makes it perfect for any desert type of set up.

That looks awesome!
Gonna have to make some walls for my magnetic village set now, consider this idea stolen ;-)

smokey – I prefer this shot.

Is that you wearing the magnetic material to get you to stick to the walls? :)

PS – nice models – I was only poking around to see if you had some shots in focus ;)

That's my "Space Invader" running suit! (You run faster when people are trying to beat you up 'cause you look like a weirdo) :)

You know, there were plenty of pics of me and hot girls you could have chosen over this one! :(

I'll take better pics in the sunlight and repost the wall. :)

War Monkey27 Mar 2014 2:22 p.m. PST

I really like the wall repair as well really gives it character.

Smokey Roan27 Mar 2014 11:29 p.m. PST

Wall repair? What? Where?

Smokey Roan27 Mar 2014 11:31 p.m. PST

Oh, you mean on the terrain piece? (wonder who diverted us? T'anks for nothin' , Monkey!)

Smokey Roan29 Mar 2014 1:24 p.m. PST

Building a new corner wall section. I have found that five defenders with firearms and a +1 melee over the wall easilly wipe out a unit of 20 bad guys when grouped base to base.

So, I'm making the walls longer, so the defenders are one base length apart, in essence, they will face 11 attackers on the wall at a time, and not 5 or 6.

Get it? Know where I'm coming from?

Cacique Caribe29 Mar 2014 4:07 p.m. PST

Smokey,

I knew you looked familiar!!!
