"Replicators, touchscreen consoles, communicators—we've seen so many Star Trek technologies developing in real life these days, it seems criminal that the only intergalactic booze that has made its way to the 21st-century marketplace is Vulcan Ale. Starting today, though, a new era of drunken diversity has arrived, thank Fek'lhr: "Klingon Warnog" is heading to shelves.

As a partnership between CBS Consumer Products and the Federation of Beer, the fuel of a thousand warrior victory celebrations will arrive on pre-Federation Earth as a Dunkelweizen with an ABV of 5.5% and "a modern aroma [of] predominantly mild banana and clove." It'll be brewed by Evansville, Indiana's Tin Man Brewing Company, who assure us that "the inclusion of wheat and caramel malts help to round out the mouthfeel of this beer, making [it] hearty enough to be called a Klingon Warnog." (Tin Man, if you're wondering, has an "okay" rating on Beeradvocate.) Like any self-respecting Trek memorabilia item, Warnog is making its debut in Las Vegas, where it's being previewed today at the Nightclub & Bar Show. It'll go wide in the U.S. and Canada later this year…"

I always thought it was Romulan Ale that was so potent.

Did they brew it on Vulacn too?

Did they brew it on Vulacn too?

I thought prune juice was the drink of warriors.

5.5%? That's the stuff of warriors?

Most people from the Federation have learned not to accept a free beer from a friendly Klingon. True, it's a nice gesture, but according to the recipients, the beer is usually of horrible quality (as it tastes like pee….)

As implied by Frederick, for real warriors it is non-alcoholic. ;^)
