The promised other half of the Alton Axumite Invasion of Arabia pairing …

The Axumites are a fierce but brittle army who currently just have the edge in their encounters with the Nomads …

They have a Barker Marker obelisk in their camp …

… and an Elephant General

Again, very nice. :-)

Are those hieroglyphics (spelling?) hand-painted? Also, what is a "barker marker"?

It's been a pleasure to share these two armies – thanks for appreciating them …

Hi Mark …

re the hieroglyphs … I had a Hirst arts Egyptian Obelisk the bottom half of which is redundant (genuine Obelisks don't have a join in the middle) … the bottom half comes in four sides, and I made this one by sticking two of those together with a new base and a characteristic Axumite 'D' shaped top. So the hieroglyphs are courtesy of the original model (I have just picked them out)

Barker Marker: link a lot of players like to have template handy to mark the position of elements in a difficult yes/no measurement or to check if a Zoc is being crossed (so a base square with a handy monument, tower, statue or similar became a popular adjunct to an army and someone, sometime, christened them 'Barker Markers' … you can use them to see if you have been 'Barkered'* wink)

Hope that helps (sorry to use jargon – I generally try to avoid it but 'Barker Marker' is a handy term that is a lot shorter than the explaination) …
