Finally these are ready for sale, and will be added to the store as soon as the APC is painted, along with the Thrainites (space dwarves).

Here's a look at the manned Goanna 1, and the robot Goanna 2. Designed by John Bear Ross, mightier than mere mortals, and painted by Tim Rich:

But of course, look who designed them!

Stealth100026 Mar 2014 5:51 a.m. PST

I am likening but all your stuff is so nice.

khurasanminiatures26 Mar 2014 6:03 a.m. PST

Here's the Taipan (Goanna with railgun) showing the missile box secondary armament that also comes with the kit, rather than the robot double energy gun turret.

By the way, you can make out the robot driver in these pics as well -- its head is peeking out of the forward starboard hull deck.

Cyclopeus26 Mar 2014 6:22 a.m. PST

Very nice.

DinOfBattle226 Mar 2014 6:23 a.m. PST

Extremely cool! Bravo!

Ron W DuBray26 Mar 2014 6:41 a.m. PST

you know I saw this was a JBR design before I read a word about them the side detail gave it away. ;) nice work john.

No Such Agency26 Mar 2014 7:04 a.m. PST

Not to be confused with the Goanna scout car from Old Crow. "Know the difference, it could save your life".

;)

"Goanna attack us and just see what happens!"

MrAverage26 Mar 2014 7:07 a.m. PST

Now THAT is swick, man.

wminsing26 Mar 2014 7:11 a.m. PST

Cool! Nice piece of kit, good to see them finally released.

kallman26 Mar 2014 7:17 a.m. PST

(banging head against wall) No! These are too wonderful! Like I need more 15mm Science Fiction models. Any pics of the Goanna? Pretty please?

khurasanminiatures26 Mar 2014 7:27 a.m. PST

Yes! There are several of them above. grin

Here's another one -- what you get with the kit:

picture

You get both the crewed turret and the robot turret, and the main gun, rotary cannon, and railgun inserts. You also get the missile box and robot energy weapon turret as secondary armament for the manned turret.

For the robot, self defence is achieved with an array of 16 micromissiles in launchers on either side of the AI turret. These come in four strips of launchers.

The kit will be very versatile -- you can glue one gun in the robot turret and another in the manned turret, and you have two options for the vehicle. You can also magnetise the parts (a lot of room is left for that) and then you have a really incredible range of options, six different turrets (even more if you magnetise the secondary armament in the crewed turret).

By the way the hatch is a separate pewter piece and may be posed open so that you can put a JTFB, Thrainite or Control Battalion crewman (or crewthing) in there. They are the most common users of MDMS tech. Control Battalion robot Goannas often patrol rebel territory, with their target-priority tolerances set so low that the area becomes a dead zone. That said, when stationed near the deserts the robot Goannas are sometimes "liberated" by Chewks who reprogram them and sell them to the Resistance. grin

BlackWidowPilot Fezian26 Mar 2014 7:46 a.m. PST

Magnetize, Hell! I see a Taipan for my JTFB, a whole remote turret with main gun for a kitbash or conversion project, plus extras for yet a third kitbash project.

I may be rather allergic to a great many resins, but for thus lil' fellow, I *will* be suitin' up!evil grin

Very nice! I see a troop with one manned tank flanked by two robot tanks operating in conjunction.

Nice stuff, I really like it. I've got one question: how big is it? Is it closer to big Crital Mass Games vehicles, mid-size Rebel Minis or compact like GZG?

rvandusen Supporting Member of TMP26 Mar 2014 9:14 a.m. PST

Looking excellent! I really like the robot turret versions.

emckinney26 Mar 2014 9:19 a.m. PST

My only wish would be for smoke/flare/decoy/AP grenade launchers to mount on the manned turret.

TK 42126 Mar 2014 9:35 a.m. PST

Great work! These bad boys will look outstanding in any army.

Heinz Good Aryan26 Mar 2014 10:45 a.m. PST

looks like there's another little robot head on top of the robot turret???

khurasanminiatures26 Mar 2014 2:46 p.m. PST

That's what that is, actually, the turret robot.

blacksoilbill26 Mar 2014 3:14 p.m. PST

Those look awesome!

Prester John26 Mar 2014 3:52 p.m. PST

Lovely! It would be nice to have some sort of release schedule, though. Over the past months, I have seen wonderful Khurasan stuff on TMP that does not seem to get released (hunchback shuttle, new red tank…) And then something appears in the shop that one never saw coming. The result is I haven't placed a single order yet. Always waiting till this or that… Shame on me, actually. Gorgeous models.

Prester John26 Mar 2014 4:01 p.m. PST

These lovely tanks make me wonder. Is there a way to avoid 30% shipping costs to continental Europe + possibly tax? Any local distributors?

Redroom26 Mar 2014 4:02 p.m. PST

Chatticus Finch26 Mar 2014 5:43 p.m. PST

Awesome news! Am definitely getting these!

You know… With the turret ring being the same size as the Red Faction tanks… Have you ever considered making a bunker with the same size turret ring as a piece?

John Bear Ross26 Mar 2014 5:54 p.m. PST

@Ron: thanks, sir, you made my day! ;)
The Goannas and Taipan were sized about the same as the Red Banner series of tanks, and their multitude of turrets and secondary weapon accessory turrets should interchange.

I will put up a blog post when I get home from work.

Best,
JBR

Krazy Ivan26 Mar 2014 7:35 p.m. PST

They're nice, but they're no SPAR Team mech…

War Monkey26 Mar 2014 8:50 p.m. PST

Just plain WOW! With all of the great stuff coming out, I'm overwhelmed what to get and what too get first and my list just keeps changing

Gunner Dunbar26 Mar 2014 10:40 p.m. PST

Hmmmm that is nice, by the looks of it, it's a light to medium tank? Which is good, nice design.

John Bear Ross26 Mar 2014 11:00 p.m. PST

Slightly shorter, slightly taller than the Nova Respublik Red Banner series of tanks.

Roughly 3" (76.2mm) length, 2" (51mm) width. Height be be up to 1.5" (37mm) depending on turret accessories.

John Treadaway27 Mar 2014 2:50 a.m. PST

Assault Publishing. The only thing I can help with, size wise, is that the largest of the CMG tanks are about 100mm long, hull wise. So about 33% bigger than these.

Have a look at some comparisons here for vehicles link (I won't publish a pic as I don't want to thread hijack).

Prestor John: sadly, there is no chance whatsoever of getting Khurasan stuff in Europe without importing it (with all of the attendant costs – postage and customs – that it incurs).

McWong7327 Mar 2014 2:52 a.m. PST

Well done Jon, well done John! 2014 looks to be a great year for us.

TK 42127 Mar 2014 2:56 a.m. PST

All the good stuff coming out almost on a daily basis makes your head spin. This vehicle matches up quite nicely with the Nova Respublik line.

commanderroj27 Mar 2014 4:28 a.m. PST

I don't know if it would be a practical idea for manufacturers in the US, but I wondered if there was a way in cutting down costs to keep the under the minimum customs threshold for the UK. I have in the past seen some discount "clubs" run by some companies. Something like join the club for x$ For the year and get a x% discount on orders over the year? this might encourage more people in the UK to order. Doubtless there would be pitfalls I haven't considered here!

khurasanminiatures27 Mar 2014 5:34 a.m. PST

To be honest, that's the situation already. I've got prices cut as close to the bone as possible. As it is now, due to the low margins on 15mm products, it sometimes takes years to earn back the initial investment.

khurasanminiatures27 Mar 2014 7:44 a.m. PST

Thanks JBR, yes the MDMS tanks are definitely smaller than the Red Banner.

Fritadas27 Mar 2014 4:55 p.m. PST

oh heck yes i'e salivated over that APC for soooo long

Fluffy0528 Mar 2014 9:09 p.m. PST

Stunning!!!

Cannot wait to order :)

grommet3731 Mar 2014 2:33 p.m. PST

I can't stop adding tanks to the shopping list!

It's not a bad "problem" to have. That APC is sweet.

Chatticus Finch22 May 2014 4:35 p.m. PST

Is it ready for the stote yet? My Nueva Australis Security Corps needs their armoured support :)

Antonius Block23 May 2014 9:27 a.m. PST

I love these! I was just looking for some tanks with rounded features and more of a sci-fi look to the weaponry. Thanks for always coming out with the greatness!

panzersaurkrautwerfer25 May 2014 3:14 a.m. PST

Khurasan does some of the best scifi tanks in 15 MM I've ever seen. Or at least they strike my tanky sensibilities. Looking forward to getting a platoon of these guys.

Gunner Dunbar25 May 2014 11:32 p.m. PST

it doesn't help that they have such a damn good paint job either.

andyhalo26 Jul 2014 4:11 a.m. PST

When oh when will these be out?????

Bashytubits28 Jul 2014 9:12 p.m. PST
