I saw an advert for the FOW Armored Rifle Platoon and the Panzergrenadier Platoon which looked quite snazzy …

Anyone got these sets? Is the quality of the plastics good?

The Germans look like the ones from the Open fire boxed set. If so they are very, very good indeed. They mix in well with Peter Pig and Skytrex too so you can add the numbers of heavy weapons or variants as you wish if not playing FOW or similar company level 1:1 sets of rules.

the new panzergrenadier platoon has pictures up on the battlefront website. The majority of the infantry are from open fire but there are a few new sculpts, including a panzerknacker. The new plastic halftrack sprues will let you build 251/C, 251/D, 251/7 Pioneer halftracks and then also have the command PaK 36 option.

It seems BF has embraced the "going plastic" mentallity. SOem might argue too late, but I am on board for a few reasons…

I like that dual turrets in the T-34 boxes, just like PSC.. but they also have the magnets and decals… for me, the decals are the main selling feature that makes me go for the BF kits over any others.

Also… weight…. the plastics are so much lighter… well sculpted too… In fact, I am at a crossroads… I am considering going in on all plastics and selling my lead figures… great news for BF, bad news for my pocket book! I even sold off my lead US para army to build one from the troops that come in the box set. So far so good…

I just think the plastics are better all around, detail, weight, etc…
