Government troops in Syria have recaptured the historic Crusader castle of Krak des Chevaliers from rebels, close to the border with Lebanon.

An officer said the army had killed 93 rebels in fierce fighting in the area on Thursday, while there appeared to be heavy damage to a nearby village.

I was just looking at that – it looks bad…but not as bad as it could have been. Most of the rubble and junk needs to be cleared away, and probably some work on the interior walls, but at least it isn't falling down.

It was built for warfare, so bittersweet more than sad.

Nice model to have on the table for a modern wargame at least.
