See in the latest newsletter that Warlord have signed an agreement with Italieri to produce plastic kits in 1/56. Interested to see if these are traditional plastic kits or quick build. First 2 will be M4 and Panther, neither of which is under available in this scale, but hopefully we will see more obscure subjects. I wonder how the military modellers will react to these too. Not a traditional modelling scale, but the availability of compatible plastic and metal infantry may tempt the diorama builders.

Actually, of most interest to me are the commercial opportunities this may present. Italeri have a well established distribution/dealership network, so if Warlord can get access to this, then the distribution of wargaming products may substantially increase, to outlets that may not traditionally have considered wargaming products.

Will be good to see how this moves forward. Now if Airfix would join forces with PSC…

They are just reboxing old kits and selling them under the Warlord name.

Really!? And what kits did they produce in 1/56 scale then?

Actually, I heard rumors the other way around Ethanjt. I heard Italeri is selling the kits Warlord kits under their name.

That being said, my info is rumor and conjecture. I like what the OP had to say much more and would love to see a lot of 1/56 in plastic. I like plastic a lot more than resin and white metal, as long as the detail doesn't suffer.

The 1/56 plastic kit for the M3A1 Warlord came out with, was an excellent piece, and has sold me on plastic for vehicles at this scale. If they're going to get Italeri to use their expertise and scale to make these going forward, that would make a lot of sense, and be great for us hobbyists.

Fred Cartwright21 Mar 2014 3:45 p.m. PST

The website mentions developing a new line of 1/56 scale kits in partnership with Italieri. We will see what comes out of it, but it seems a good move to me.

Being able to use Italeri's distribution network would be a godsend for 28mm gamers, not to mention the hopefully larger production runs of the plastics to drive prices down.

One can take 1/48 kits and sell them as 1/56. Not like scale means anything in this hobby.

Except they hardly do any 1/48 military kits, most of which Warlord have already and don't include either the Panther or the M4, so I reckon you are mistaken.

We'll see.

Played Bolt Action in Cold Wars and decided to paint a box a Germans and invest in the game. Hope they do the T34 and Panzer IV soon.

TredHedJon22 Mar 2014 9:55 p.m. PST

Warlord already does a T34 plastic kit. Its the 85 variant but that probably means it would be easier to do the 76.

We'll see.

Well the first of these is out now and is 1/56 and a new kit, so I guess we have seen are you were mistaken!

I guess we have seen are you were mistaken!

What is this supposed to mean?

And more importantly, what is this new kit that is actually out?

Fred Cartwright05 Jul 2014 3:12 p.m. PST

1/56 scale M4 from Italeri as part of their deal with Warlord. Ethanjt21 reckoned they would be 1/48 reissues. Review in this months Wargames Soldiers and Strategy.

badger2205 Jul 2014 3:25 p.m. PST

Fred have you seen the kit? Is it up to normal italeri standards? I hope so, i am a big fan of thier stuff in 1/72nd.

Thanks for letting us know they are out.

I haven't seen it in the flesh. The write up in Wargames, Soldiers & Strategy is favourable. There is an article on the Warlord site with pictures.
