Interesting, but not a massive surprise. Still, I wonder how much they investigated the previous work done to determine the colours, and how much of this is just to get their names into the papers

I would have been more surprised if they had found it correct, as the ship was old even at the time of Trafalgar in an era when captains could practically choose their own colour scheme. |

Even though this is more like confirmation than discovery, it never hurts to have hard evidence of what the documentation already told us. At the very least, it vindicates the color choices made by several 18th century artists who depicted Victory in paintings or as a model. |

Read the original work some time back and another article in Mariner's Mirror on this. All the work is original research and goes a long way to correcting previous rehabs. |
