hey guys wanted to get your thoughts on design vs usage on vehicles. meaning , example, a APC or VTOL, does it matter weather it has the option of a internal cabin or as a solid model?
Is a simpler design better for your needs than a more detailed build. I know larger models 1/60th scale(28mm) tend to be model model like in design and give you more options , but i was not sure if 15mm designs matter as much to you.
thoughts?

Depends what you are using the model for, for gaming solid is better, some of us like to make little dios, but I would say we are the minority, from a commercial point of view, solid I think, on the other hand I think a lot of people would like a affordable corridor system, and internals of a ship.

From a gaming point of view solid would be best simply as the model would be made up of less parts thus making it more robust especially if you have to use public transport to get to your gaming venue, from personal experience when rushing to pack item away or for that matter taking them out parts always seem to receive some sort of damage, so either a simple or complicated model would be greatly helped if all its jointed or add on parts were made simple, deep and tight fitting so when the model is assembled the parts will have a solid bond…

The less assembly the better in most cases.

Lets look at the Doe. Great piece. Wonderful model.
But I've seen more of your (Ravenstar) larger Dropships painted and posted than of Khurasan's Doe. Why? Even the painted ones say assembling is a bear. Mine is still half done. Now the limited VTOL from Khurasan, I have two right next to your dropship just waiting for inspiration and time to paint them all.

But we all want that fantastic looking model. No matter how long it will sit unfinished next to our work station.

I have no interest in 15mm scale 'hollow' vehicles. I have very little interest in 15mm open buldings (though big corridor set ups can be fun) but vehicles? Nah.

My idea of the ideal 15mm vehicle has about 4 bits :)

I don't mind complicated assembly. I do love to have lots of options for weapon arrangements, stowage and such, but I have no interest in opening up the hatches.

I like to put magnets in the turret, but otherwise, I don't want fiddly parts that move around whenever you pick up the model.

I am a modeler first and gamer second my walkers the strider and the stomper are more like model kits than gaming minis and I do think it limits purchase to a wide range of targets -- If I could do a a and a b version I will be as A is the simple build and B bein the custom build --- in the end both would look the same but the B kit has more options such as pose.

as far as size I like tanks to look like they could fit the intended figure inside – for my taste while there are a ton of vehicles out there for 15mm hardly any fit my needs – Khurasans super heavy tanks and hammer slammers new tanks are great size darkest star APC drop ships are pretty good – I would like to see a tad larger but for most 15mm lines they scale great.

When I did 40k i never did the interior as in a game setting never mattered – when painting for resale it did matter as it drove the price up.

I like the BF Huey Slicks with their cabin open. That matches most of the photos I've seen of them in operation in Vietnam.

But they're still pretty simple models. Forward fuselage, one-piece skids, tail boom, tail fins, engine housing, and a few parts in the rotor blades. Not too bad at all, except for a fiddly tail rotor mount.

If you're doing 3d printed masters, having a hollow interior will make your print a LOT cheaper, since one of the cost drivers is how much 3d printer 'toner' your model uses. However, if you then fill the inside of your 3d master before casting the production master(s), that will probably be cheaper and less frustrating than trying to cast hollow interiors.

vehicles I like as few bits as possible and solid. Buildings I like internals in 15mm but its not a show stopper if the are solid.
