Any ideas for miniatures if one wanted to play some skirmish games in the vain of "Blade" or "Underworld"? Most of the vampire ranges I've seen are Victorian Gothic.

Any help would be appreciated.

There's always a quick delve into your FLGS's bin of unloved Prepainted HeroClix... There's probably an old Blade fig in there, plus countless thugs, cops, agents and whatnot that you can swat a pair of fangs onto. Chances are, any common bystander could pass for a Vampire.

If you're looking for Wolves, and can't find it in your heart to use Confrontation's gigantic Wolfen, Reaper makes a few Lupine types, or you could use the MageKnight Werewolves.

Now all you need is some ainsty sewer terrain, mood music, and Dice.

Graven Images do a pack of 4 Underworld type female Vamps, and a pack of 2 Slayers, as well as 2 packs of Underworld type Werewolves - pics can be seen on the group:

Could you save me the hours of searching by letting me know what folder they're in?

Thanks in advance.

I don't get it. Nevermind. Don't want it.

Some Games Workshop WH40K/Necromunda or Dark Age would work well for futuristic vampires I think. No, I know, I use some of them for exactly this purpose :-)

Graven Images also has appropriate mini's, but is out of scale with just about every other manufacturer.

bubbahotep14 Dec 2004 12:48 p.m. PST

B6 they are in the greens folder - except the wolfs which are in steves folder

I have been considering the same thing. Moderns such as Copplestone future wars, superfigs, street violence, thugs and even the VASA militia from Void have some cool figures that could work with some minor conversions.

Sandra Garrity produced a really cool 2 gun female with a trench coat for Silver Age sentinals that would be perfect.

Of course if you are fussy about exact weapons some minor conversions may be in order.

Most of these aren't vampires but then the ones in the movies weren't wearing red capes and baring their fangs or angel faces all that often, just paint them pale!

I believe Ground Zero Games produce both Blade and Selene (the Kate Beckinsale Underworld character) in 25mm (rather than 28mm).

West Wind produce a set of wolfmen in their Gothic Horror range that should work in any era.

In several months, we'll be releasing Roadkill, a near-future skirmish game that will have Vampires and Vampire Hunters both on and off motorcycles. It'll also have plenty of other cool stuff, but I've got some of the early masters, and they're close to what you want.

Just an FYI.

Hasslefree Miniatures has a new Adventurer cslled "Kat" that is very Selene-like. Add some Copplestone and other modern figs, and you have an Underworld/Blade skirmish in the making!

Bubbahotep, thanks. Found 'em. Nice lookin'!

Rogcollectibles, thanks for the ideas. I think some of the Void minis may also look good with some conversions. TAG sells katanas in packs so some nice conversions are possible yes. Keep me posted as to what you get up to on this. I'd be interested to hear your progress.

You can get that glow-in-the-dark paint for the ultra-violet bullets. ;-)

For Pete's sake, I barely have my Chaos in Cairo painted, and here you guys go again! You rock.

I've been collecting stuff like this for a while now. I did some witch hunter robin type characters using hero clix and void. I'm really putting together a a generic bunch of modern/future figs for things like occult/spy(witch hunter robin-xfiles), vampires (masquerade, blade, underworld), post apolalyptic stuff, Japanese action/horror type stuff. The figs are mostly compatible to all the stuff I want to use them for.

Copplestones babes with guns and men in black are especially nice.

Superfigs makes some civilian packs that have a slew of different things in them.

Shadowforge also has some interesting SF females, I have several of these.

There are also many manufacturers doing modern military that may be helpful for hit teams, etc. Tactical miniatures has some interesting stuff.

Glad to see someone else is thinking this way. I just picked up Combat Zone and the rules seem perfect for this "genre". Guess it would be called "Vampire Apocalypse"? Why do I have a feeling that White Wolf will be calling me on the phone as I post this....

combatpainter Fezian14 Dec 2004 5:22 p.m. PST

Westwind Werewolves are excellent!

Rogzombie Fezian14 Dec 2004 6:38 p.m. PST

Superfigs werewolves are really cool as they come with a human version in the exact same pose. I think it was mentioned already but Reaper has some cool werewolves.

Someone on Discount hobby, maybe laser and lance has a nice female werewolf, comparable to the one Reaper makes.

If you want to wargame "Blade", you could use an adapted LOTR mechanic.

Steve Flanagan15 Feb 2005 2:35 a.m. PST

Drew Williams has been sculpting figures for Street Fight Gothic, which fits this genre. Previews lists it as coming out from Iron Wind Metals in March or April.

The Graven Images stuff is a chunky 1/48, and so much bigger than the other figures mentioned. But with supernatural critters, that might work OK.

The more stuff I see being added to the Graven Images line and from what I hear about what's coming up to satisfy the "Blade" or "Underworld" gamer I think it's the way forward for this idea.
