Hi all, Just completed the 1/16th battalion, the second of the four battalions involved in the Oporto campaign of 1809.
The 16th Portuguese regiment were mentioned specifically in their action at Grijo where they were in combat with General s Francheschi's and Mermet's troops as they fell back to Oporto. Their performance in front of Wellesley gained the Portuguese contingent a favourable impression from Sir Arthur, following the recent reforms undertaken by Marshal Beresford. If you would like to know more about the 1/16th and other units involved in the campaign, then follow the link to JJ's jjwargames.blogspot.co.uk Jonathan |

Jonathan Love these, great work. I like your smart painting and basing style, plus these are great figures If i'd discovered these before 28mm plastics i'd definately have given them a go F |

Hi Ferg, Thank you. I love the look of 28mm Napoleonics and if money were no object I would have gone down that route myself. I think for me Napoleonic wargaming has to be done in the "grand manner" with expansive terrain and a table groaning under the weight of figures. The newer 18mm ranges gives the opportunity for the average gamer to do those bigger games without having to take out a second mortgage and still able to get the look and style of the larger scale. The other nice thing is that we 18mm collectors are getting spoilt for choice with the ranges now on offer. Jonathan |

You are a machine Jonathan. Your work has given me so much inspiration for my 28mm Peninsular armies – keep it up. |

Very good stuff. I always think it's funny that you base your figures for N@W. I play a lot of N@W but didn't like the base sizes and so haven't re based my armies. But when I see your bases I think hmmm maybe I should have rebased after all as they look great. Love your blog. Keep it up. |
