"Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe says he will not revise a historic Japanese apology for the army's use of war-time sex slaves.

His government had announced a review of the evidence that the army forced Asian women to serve in its brothels.

Mr Abe spoke of his pain at the "immeasurable suffering" endured by the women and said the apology would not be withdrawn.

China and South Korea have accused Japan of trying to rewrite history…"

How is this wrong?

If I read it correctly, it means the apology made in 1993 stands despite pressure to change it due to claims that the evidence presented was selective.

Didn't read the article, but not sure why the apology should be "withdrawn".

I'm still waiting for China to apologize to her own people, for all of them that have been killed in the name of communism.

I suspect it'll be a very cold day in hell, indeed, before that'll ever happen.

Yes. There does seem to be a trend to only expect "apologies" from certain countries.

What has this to do with miniature wargaming? I mean, really?

I'm not questioning the historical or political reality of these war crimes.

I just want someone to prove to me that it has a relevant place on a forum about playing with toy soldiers.

Victory conditions, my boy, victory conditions.

When you beat your opponent finally, at the end of a war, or a gaming session, make sure to require the requisite, sincere apology, to prevent this stuff from cropping up again, at some time in the future.

Agree with you my friend Mako11!

To Mako

The rape of wife and daughter is still illegal and immoral even if the father is a murderer

Abe's Quote

I have to express sympathy from the bottom of my heart to those people who were taken as wartime comfort women. As a human being, I would like to express my sympathies, and also as prime minister of Japan I need to apologize to them.

You'll get no argument from me, so I guess I am missing your point.

Mine was (since apparently you may have missed it, similarly), that the Chinese did a lot worse to their own citizens, and I haven't heard or read any apologies, however tepid, for any of those actions.

Very interesting Tango, thanks.
