I'd like to play some Dust Warfare but include troops and some older equipment from the WW2 period. Would Warlord's Bolt Action minis be a good size match to keep roughly the same scale?

They're close enough in height, but the style of the sculpt is different. DUST figures are more realistically proportioned than the caricatures dominating 28mm nowadays. It's a matter of your tolerance level.

Also, DUST figures have their own unique base, which doesn't match the standard 20mm slotta-style or flat bases.

I agree, I have a few Dust figures to round out my Sci-fi forces and they are excellent sculpts but don't blend well with a lot of stuff out there. (the majority of my stuff is old AT43 converts and they match up pretty well)

As to the bases, the riveted look is really cool but if you don't like it, easy enough to rebase the figs.

I'll buy a small box of Warlord and compare. As I was posting, I realized the basing problem, but I don't think it will be too much of a problem. I'll be putting terrain on the bases (painted sand mostly) so it's less of an issue. I think facing and turning only effects walkers and vehicles in Dust Warfare, so the little notches in the base won't be used on the WWII troops. If I find I need them, I can draw/paint dots onto the bases. Thanks.

If the bases prove to be a problem, it is possible to buy bases for DUST models separately :-)

Bulkwise you might be better of with wargames factory ww2 plastics as they are realistically proportioned. No idea about height though.

I was interested in the size comparison too. I haven't put my Dust guys next to a Warlord games mini yet but I know they look big next to my Citadel Space Marines so that probably says something about the scale.

I did get some of the Hasslefree Nazi Zombies to use as zombies made during a game but they are smaller than the other miniatures. It happens so rarely in a game though that I really see the spares on the board anyway.

I like the riveted bases but as cptsafety2 has pointed out they aren't really needed (vehicles do have facing but the rivets don't help to much with that anyway).

I found that 1/43rd scale WWII kits work fantastic…They are well proportioned and can be found fairly cheap…look towards Tamiya models…

The guy who runs this blog dustaustralis.blogspot.se
is on TMP. He uses Tamiya 1/48. TMP link
