With the exception of a couple of killings, a couple of fights, it is ten episodes of Whining and Wandering. I do like Tyrion though. |

You obviously will be disapointed by the last two books then

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the screenwriters will fast-foreword us through the Momma of Dragons saying, "hey, didn't we just past that funny-shaped boulder?" seventeen times. |

They will also drop the Sand Snakes and the Iron Isles diversions. |

I assumed the Sand Snakes can be written out pretty easily (but only Martin knows). I don't believe (and don't think the screenwriters believe) that the TV audience wants the story to become so decentralized from Westeros/ever-how-many Original Little Indians we are down to. Tons of new, mid-story characters are hard to swallow in a series of novels. Ten times worse for TV, even if they wanted to take the time to squeeze them in, which they won't. Asha's little divergence in Ep 10 seems to derail a lot of her part in the early stages of the Greyjoy fracas. I want to see Crow's Eye. |

That really sucked. |

I think Crow's Eye will be thrown out with the bath water. On TV, anyway. The burned leeches still have to kill off Balon Greyjoy, so maybe not. Martin may feel a need to finish these plot diversions for his readers, but here is one reader who wishes he had never started that line. He can afford to be self indulgent when writing a 7 art trilogy and wander off in all directions, but HBO is the train barrelling down the tracks while he is picnicking on them. He knows it too. One of the pre publication released "double secret probation" excerpts for The Winds of Winter
mentions Victarion. Would that the whole Iron Islands digeression would get lost at sea and all the Sand Snakes get burned up in a meteor strike. And stop torturing poor Arya! Give the kid a break! |

That really sucked. They do when you go TWELVE HUNDRED PAGES (how many pages are even in the LotR trilogy?) with scant appearance by some pivotal characters, and NONE of others. THAT sucks. |

The Iron Isles will have to remain due to the Dragon Horn and their impending arrival at a major battle. Asha Greyjoy is an interesting character though renamed and underdeveloped in the mini-serias. Dorne may also play a major role in the recent invasion by another pretender so the Sand Snakes may also make an appearance. Interest in the Red Viper and his consort is quite high with the casting loved/hated depending on the blog. Mr. Martin is victum of his own success with everyone wanting more NOW but with cries of anguish when it ends and there is no more. So far HBO's biggest accomplishment (besides getting him more readers) is to focus Martin's attention on keeping the project moving forward as they begin to close the gap between the written and the filmed. Released or read chapters from Winds feature big battle in east and promise of big battle round Winterfell. Start painting the armies now
