So as my 15mm castle/grand gate project winds down, I started playing around with city walls. Here's a link to some pictures of my test setup in progress.

Outstanding! That's really impressive.

Kyote: I either coat with a thin coat of patching plaster or use craft paints. The craft paints do not eat the foam like spray paint. You could also use craft paint as a primer to seal it, then use spray paint.

All of that looks great, that is some awesome work with foam – I didn't see it in a quick glance, but do you have a how-to on how you work with such precision with pink foam? I'm ok with bashed up rock faces, but those crennalations of yours are sweet.

nice I love what can be done with foam glue and a sharp knife.

The Proxxon Hotwire cutter (the one with the table) is what I use. It has adjustable heat settings that give you nice crisp cuts without melting away the nearby foam. I've had mine for about a month and it's really nice. Has a small guide on it for straight cuts and you can adjust the angle of wire for angled cuts.
I'll have to add a how-to video, but essentially I cut the wall piece to the height I want, then run it through the wire at an angle to give me about a 45 degree bevel. After that, I just eyeball the crennalations by cutting out small squares. Any imperfections will just look like chipped stone.

Thanks Tshryock, I'll take a look for that cutter and will look forward to any video, but that gets me started.
