Just updated my blog with a new post on how to make cheap, fast and easy 3D Area of Effect templates from things you would normally throw away.

Hope you find it useful.

Very clever!

I can see a hand grenade blast ring and a 60mm mortar bomb detonation ring for 54mm WWII skirmish gaming in my future.

Thank you for the inspiration!

That is a really good idea, thanks. Now to make one the size of a Frisbee for my tac nukes!

Simple and effective.

Was it hard to source containers of particular diameters? I guess that could be controlled by rolling up flat material and fastening with a stapler or similar.

Next question is how to do grid systems where the edges need to be right angles not curves. Hmmmm . . .

Thanks all.

Remember this stuff is everywhere. Pop into your local Poundland/Dollar Tree and look at their food containers, baby stuff (bottles and beakers) and gardening stuff. Next time you're at the beach, take a look at the cheap plastic buckets for making sand-castles. Or just take a look at cheap plastic buckets anyway.

Once you know what you want to make, you just need to find a suitable plastic ring of the right colour and size.

Thanks for the great idea. I can't wait to turn some dayglo containers inro radiation effects and force bubbles/walls.

For grid systems, I'm sure I've seen flower pots with square sides and the corners 'missing'.

Nice, simple, cheap and good looking.

A wargamer dream.

Thanks for sharing.
