So, an online friend recommended a new sci fi book by a first time author who was a friend of his.

I like supporting this sort of thing and it was only a few dollars, so what the hell.

I buy it and it was pretty good as those things go. Not Niven or Pournelle but not bad. I finished it in one sitting.

So, a *week* after release he puts it on sale for something like 30% off ( or more. I forget).

Come on, guy. Let it sit for at least a month before you chop the price. All you are doing is Bleeped texting off the people who took a risk and paid full price when it came out.

It's the principle of the thing.

Maybe not enough sales?

He was on flogging his great sales today. Ah well.

I have the same luck too, welcome to the "Pay Full Price" club :/

That sort of thing is bothersome. But, it illustrates perfectly why patience is a virtue. On the other hand if this person does well in the future you can pester him and maybe get a bestseller for free through "guilting" him. Plus you can boast how you knew him when he was starting out.

As a writer, I'll chime in that it's hard to gauge when/how to have a sale. You want to promote/raise sales numbers but there's never a perfect time. You're always going to disappoint someone.

I'll send you a free copy of one of my books tho, Only Warlock. ;)

Nah you don't need to. I was only a "little" miffed lol
