Hi all,

Might anyone please recommend some relatively inexpensive *plastic* 28mm figures to represent unpleasant opponents for a sci-fi dungeon crawl?

I'm thinking, something primitive that crawls, scuttles, slithers, staggers, etc. – whether spiders, aliens, zombies, or some such like. Pref. something I could deploy in relatively large numbers – say, at least a dozen at a time.

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Cheers,
Redcoat

EBay search for 'Halloween' critters will get you bugs etc………and there are cheap plastic zombies on there too…..

Hit the dollar stores and look at the stuff in the toy section. At the least, they usually have insects….

Hi Wargames Factory makes nice Skeletons and if you don't mind about22$ you also get a lot of Ex Parts for your Dungeon Swords ,Skulls ,bones, shields other weapons . They also have a modern Zombies set but can be made to use for anytime . I love the Skeleton set it's helped a lot with my Terminator Judgement Day project . And had lots of goodies left over for my Fantasy Dungeons (it's hard to tell some grey rocks from Concrete if you do the base right it's just a plié of bones :-) Anyhow hope it helped . Let me know how your game set up ends up would like to see it. Grey in Va

I think you can get the Sedition Wars minis separately from the game… Nevermind, that's not particularly cost-effective.

Check evilbay for a box.

I got these cybermats from amazon – they're about 20mm long and you get a horde of the robo-nasties for less than a fiver:

Eastriding miniatures have some real bargains in metal.Although they're listed under the 15mm stuff, these creepy aliens are close to 25mm human-length and you get 6 for £2.50 GBP:

you might want to give Tony a chance to rest, though – the poor bloke had a minor heart attack last month. He's a true gentleman and deserves our support.

Plastic prepainted minis from D&D, Star Wars, Hero/Horrorclix, MageKnight, and Dreamblade might all be a good source, since many can be picked up dirt cheap and in drives from eBay or some online retailers. The sculpting/painting may be a tad rough, but the price point is hard to argue against.

If you can find a copy of Doom the Boardgame for cheap, there are piles of plastic baddies in there. The bases tended to warp slightly, so you may have to trim them down and/or rebase them, but there's plenty of sci-fi goodness in there.

I'll second the idea of prepainted figure lots on ebay. For even cheaper deals, put up an add here and see what people offer you or ask around your FLGS. Chances are that someone (maybe the FLGS owner) as a bucket of them in the closet that they'd like to unload.

Then pop them off their bases and rebase and you've got a bunch of baddies ready to go.

The other option, for not too much more $ is to check out the "Bones" miniatures from Reaper. A bit more, but not much and with the big Kickstarter campaigns, you can often find inexpensive lots on Ebay.

Lastly, for the ultra cheap, here's some toys that come in large lots.
