…topics on Ukraine would lead to Dawghousing?
I fear the Paddy Wagons and Black Maria drivers had better call home and tell thwir ives they will be working overtime.

Oh, crap…
Am I going to get the DH for saying "Paddy" wagon? grin (Being Irish mysekf, can I get away with saying the P-word?)

Seriously, this is just so predictable. It's hard to think how a serious discussion on Ukraine could not invilve "politics".
I would suggest that Editor either nuke the thread, or let the discussion flow.

The origin of the term "paddy wagon" is unknown and disputed, so you should be safe.

Sergeant Paper01 Mar 2014 10:49 p.m. PST

Why so surprised? The rules against Politics on TMP aren't new… When you see sniping references to Obama, Bush, and Kerry in a discussion about Ukraine's military, its not at all hard to see why the posters are in the calabozo.

That's a lot of victims….

GarrisonMiniatures02 Mar 2014 5:07 a.m. PST

Must admit, never even thought that the term paddy wagon had Irish connotations.

The problem with topics like this is that military and political tend to merge. Militarily, Russia has probably more right to intervene in the Crimea than we did in Iraq, Afghanistan or Libya – none of those countries directly border any of our countries, non of those countries have 'independent' enclaves with majority populations of our nationalities. Militarily, Russia has every right to be concerned and act, politically? I'm keeping out of it!

Paint Pig02 Mar 2014 5:17 a.m. PST

Can troop interventions and politics be separated? The one can't happen without the other, that is how things work. I'm with John get rid of the thread and/or let the miscreants out and let the conversation flow, within reasonable bounds.

dave

and

kudos to the Obama man for not getting hysterical like the Bush's did

Not that Obama would ever do that.

or
With this administration? Absolutely." Right, what we need is "Mission Accomplished" dweeb in a flight suit to show us all how it's done. I kind of like leadership that resists committing our young men to die for pointless purposes.

"…topics on Ukraine would lead to Dawghousing?"

Along with the points above, the frothing 1950s style evil commies froth might have had something to do with it.

I will respond by quoting the OP

"Seriously, this is just so predictable. It's hard to think how a serious discussion on Ukraine could not invilve "politics".

…and behold the thread is gone. Now were those DHed by this classic piece of entrapment released?

Whatisitgood4atwork02 Mar 2014 6:32 p.m. PST

Reading the offending comments, nobody seems to have been DHed for talking about Russian or Ukrainian politics. Pretty much every poster did that.
It is only those posters who seem to think that the most salient factor in Russia's actions in the Ukraine is some aspect of US domestic politics, and who made comments along those lines, who have ended up in the DH.

Sergeant Paper02 Mar 2014 7:23 p.m. PST

What he said. Folks weren't DHed for responding to the actual situation – they were jugged for using the topic as a drumstick for beating inappropriate American Political dead horses.

As far as I am concerned, I don't CARE which presidents any of you hate, unless it is a "Presidents you hate" topic Bill has expressly allowed, NO posting flaming any recent president belongs on TMP according to the rules as posted.

So I don't know why the editors deleted the thread, some posters were keeping it on topic and letting ot reasonably flow, and the off-topic folks got their trip to the calabozo, which ought to take the wind out of their sails. Not my kuleana.
