because i has been asked to run demo of Bolt action in local event i needed my force build up quick but i have few question first is uniforms i saw some paintings and there were decipted with temperate uniforms, while others decipted their trousers in classic battledress color. Because propably i will be playing both Mid and late i was thinking about putting my brits in to both roles is it "historicly correct"? also then i will need PIATs, so which company make similiary proportioned brits with PIAT? |

As for PIATs, perhaps you could try writing to Perrys and see if they would feel like sculpting a pack of metal PIAT teams? Alternatively, you could try looking for some manufacturer making separate metal PIATs, and then combining those with the plastic figs. Unfortunately I cannot think at the moment of anybody making metal PIATs on their own – for some reason TAG does not make those. |

African troops were issued with tropical kit (i.e shirt and shorts), but still retained their original issue battledress. You see a lot of mixing in the photos – even greatcoats get worn, since the desert can get very cold. The Afrikakorps in particular used captured clothing a lot, since their original tropical kit wasn't great and they always had supply problems. Eventually they did get issue shorts, which are functionally the same as 8th army ones. Both sides were pretty relaxed about uniform regulations. For spare PIATSs and other weapons, try the separate weapons sprues from Warlord. I got some when they were on special last year. |

I've seen pictures of British forces in everything from full battledress to just shorts in Italy. I think it was highly variable by unit/location/time of year. If you're trying to depict a particular battle or even season in 1944 then I'm sure people will be able to help you further but I certainly wouldn't complain about anyone using British infantry in '37 battledress figures for '44 Italy. |
