Trains played a huge role in the various revolutionary conflicts in Mexico, due mainly to the vast distances forces needed to move. This group of armoured and semi-armoured carriages are static models and will be basically just terrain (bunkers) or objectives.

Steel plated infantry guard wagon (manned by Federal cadets) pictured here during an inspection my Colonel-General Graf von Bratwurst of the German military mission ;) Based loosely on British Boer War examples, but of a type used in Mexico.

Armoured artillery wagon (resin model by Sgt`s Mess), the gun is "home-made" 75mm weapon  A bit sophisticated really, but the Mexicans did build "armoured" cars, armour-up wagons and boats; this of course could also have been bought from a foreign power too.

Nicely done! I've been fascinated by armored trains for some time. I guess I'll have to do some more work in that direction.

Terrement

One of my favourites too :-) Trains feature in several Mexican Revolution films, I`ve spent ages cutting the battles scenes out of films and recording them onto a disc back-to-back, makes for a great 2hrs of escapism :-)

Thanks for the kind comments guys – much appreciated :-)

Excellent train, love it. Not too fond of the German troops though but I know a lot of movies have 'em at least as advisors.

I play Mexican Revolution too and managed to get an old model railroad train for my games. Also unlike the movies, both games the train was actually attacked by the rebels, it was beaten back.

And Richard, great idea about collecting all the battle scenes.

I`ll do far worse :-)

mghFond – don`t forget the US landings at Vera Cruz in 1914 were caused (partly) by a German ship trying to deliver arms to Huerta.

During the between the wars period the major powers often sent miltary missions to aid selling weapons -

Italians helped Peru develope a Parachute unit in the 1930s
French General Gamelin helped re-organise the Brazilian Army about the same time.

So I don`t see this as being too far left field, Col-General Bratwurst only has a small staff with his aid and 5 NCO/instructors, not a huge force.
