Why do wargamers need painters tape, and is the dollar-store variety good enough?

So some of this doesn't work for everyone but the system might work for say someone laser cutting buildings.

This sit is basically calling back to the old Patron days to get creative stuff done but with a dash of crowd sourcing thrown in. You pledge to pay X per month and you get some sort of reward. Basically design for web comics and pod casters to get something back for their hours of labor without the need for selling Ads and such.

I know this crowd can be rather hostile to crazy new web crazes but put the pitch fork down and let me get my point across. You reserve the right to pick it up when I'm done :)

So say I commit to producing 4 buildings a month. Scifi, WWII, fantasy, and historical. Say you pledge $25 USD in one of those categories and you get whatever kit is created. You can also pledge more to get several options each month or pledge higher to have input in the process. Like selecting the type of building for a category or something. Still kinda working out the details in my head. Each month the buildings ship and go into a holding pattern so you get them say 3 months before anyone else. At various levels of support the number of buildings or minimum size goes up. Sorta like a never ending kickstarter that you can jump off whenever you want.

Now that said, I really have no plans to do something like this at this time. I can't take the work load I have now. However, I'd LOVE to do something like that. I am really more curious as to if that kind of subscription model would work. Metal casters might have trouble doing it but a terrain maker or maybe a resin caster might be able to try it. Basically either do a big batch of them or just run a bunch till the mold is bad and toss it. Might be a unique way to boot strap a terrain company but pledging to do a set amount of buildings and offer them as castings during that period till you have enough to jump into business full time. You can then afford to buy materials in bulk and you already have a customer base to start with. Could be a bit less risk then kickstarter and you basically get a new random building in the mail every month but can jump off whenever you want.

Thanks for the link. It might be useful, and I have bookmarked it for later pondering.

Sounds interesting, being an established presence here won't hurt either :)
