… 2014 Begins in Norway.

"NATO's Submarine Warfare Exercise DYNAMIC MONGOOSE 2014 (DMON 14) begun February 14th 2014 off the coast of Norway, with ships, submarines, and aircraft and personnel from eight Allied nations converging on the Norwegian Sea for anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare training.

Three submarines from Portugal, Norway and France, under operational control of NATO Submarine Command (COMSUBNATO), will join ten surface ships from Norway, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, and Poland, under the command of Standing NATO Maritime Group ONE (SNMG-1) Commodore Nils Andreas Stensønes. Host nation Norway is providing support from both the Haakonsvern Naval Base and the Sola Air Base.
To support the simulated multi-threat environment, four Maritime Patrol Aircraft and helicopters from France, Germany and United Kingdom will operate from Sola Air Base under operational command of personnel from NATO Maritime Air Command (COMMARAIR), temporarily located at the base for the exercise. Additionally, Portugal, Canada, Germany, Norway, and the United States will provide personnel to augment COMSUBNATO during the exercise…"

I am still convinced that the DoD has an office in one of the sub basements that is staffed my a small group of failed comedians and lunatics of various stripes that generate the names for non-OPOTHUS and non-OSD exercises.
