Ok, I based on 15mm scale bases for FoG:R.
Not as happy with rules as I thought I might be.
I doesn't look like Father Tilly would work with this basing at all.
Any other options?
Any help would be appreciated>

DBR?

If I am not mistaken DBR and FOG:R use the same basing.

I have not tried it, but you might talk to the guys on Fanaticus about it….

Kind of an improved DBR…

So would Piquet: Band of Brothers, and I am sure many others as well.

You could use Pike and Shotte -- the unit size and not individual basing is important. But my experience is that Pike and Shotte is means for larger armies than typically used in FOGR

All my Italian Wars stuff is currently based for FOG:R but I regularly play Maximillian and Piquet's Band of Brothers. The latter are my favourite set for this period although I'm keeping my fingers crossed that James Roach, this board's Olicana will release his renaissance rules based on BoB for general consumption. At the end of the day, all the rules mentioned above can accommodate FoG:R basing.

Put two or more bases together- fine for Impetus. Would not be too far out for Warmaster, assuming you have used 40 mm frontages. I have also played Dux Bellorum with figures based for FoG rules.

I'll second what Alcibiades said James Roach's Hell Broke Loose is an excellent rule set and yes you could use FOG R basing.

Boy,

You folks have been a ton of help! Keep 'em coming if you got them.
I should maybe mention that I'm looking for massed battle , I got about 2000 infantry (or 200 bases) and 1500 (350-400 bases)cavalry to play with! Thirty Years' War period.
I should also mention that I just find the rules unexciting and tedious, nothing very clean there.
I prefer a set of rules to be well laid out a fairly quick read and tense.
To give an example on the opposite end of the spectrum from FoG:R, I love Iron Ivan's DHCF7B series.

Gonsalvo, Alciabides, Oh Bleeped text,
The Piquet set looks very intriguing, can you model TYW with this and BoB?
