YESSSSSSSSS!

They have been out of stock recently, then tonight, I see ONE set remaining. Ordered immediately (sucks, I had more stuff to get, but I'll do that later)

Genuine Chinese soldiers! My Burma Road playset is one step closer to completion. I know, the Chinese in that campaign were US equipted, but what is the fun in using US troops and just calling them Chinese?

Hee Hee. beautiful!

Yes, better to use Commie Reds and call them Nationalists.

Smokey Roan11 Feb 2014 5:56 p.m. PST

Exactly, OFM. Exactly!

They are going to be miserable in those coats in the hot Burma clime. :)

dBerczerk11 Feb 2014 8:04 p.m. PST

Are they 1/72 or 1/32 scale?

Nice poses for WWII Soviet infantry.

Smokey Roan12 Feb 2014 7:22 a.m. PST

1/32 sale, dberczerk. That brand also has a lot of lesser seen WWII figs, like free French, Italians in winter dress, etc.

dBerczerk12 Feb 2014 9:38 a.m. PST

Very nice.

Looks like a lot of variations on some of the ESCI and Italeri poses.

Thank you for pointing them out.

Smokey Roan15 Feb 2014 3:38 p.m. PST

OK, got the package today (nice fast service, TS Depot)

They are BEAUTIFUL! True 54mm (not undersized), big bases, and top nothc sculpting and molding (ZERO FLASH)

Wow! RThey have lots of units in that series, I'm getting more!

The quality is up there with Britians, Accurate and Timpo, ie top of the line!

Oh, and a bonus, he has a line of "Not" BMC US Marines, 30 figs in tan and green that I ordered, that are 100% high quality, BUT, TRUE 54mm (the BMC Iwo Jima figs are 60mm)

Wow! Toy Soldier Depot ROCKS!!!

Bonus time, several of the tanned "US Marines" were in fact true 54mm Japanese!

dBerczerk16 Feb 2014 2:40 p.m. PST

Very nice! Thank you for the post-delivery feedback.

Hopefully, Toy Soldier Depot will get in a re-stock. I'd like to get some of those 54mm Chinese, and the Russian / Soviet set too.

Smokey Roan17 Feb 2014 3:50 p.m. PST

He (Toy Soldier Depot) posts here sometimes, forgot his screen name :(

Custer7thcav17 Feb 2014 6:04 p.m. PST

Planning a decent sized order later this week.

Smokey- how do the not bmc marines and armies of the world match up to AIP modern US or airfix ww2 size and heftwise?

Smokey Roan19 Feb 2014 7:09 a.m. PST

Same size, proportionate, hard plastic for the Not BMC, and the Armies of the World Chinese figs are also perfect with AIP.

Custer7thcav19 Feb 2014 1:38 p.m. PST

Thanks for the Intel Smokey.

Smokey Roan19 Feb 2014 6:41 p.m. PST

Damn, he's low on the Armies of the World stock again.

Got 1 more set of Chinese.

Also got Airfix Ghurkas and Japanese. Now, some US paratroops, some Australians, and some native, spear armed headhunters, and my Burma playset is well on it's way!

I wonder what Wingates Burma Chindits looked like?

Smokey Roan20 Feb 2014 3:09 p.m. PST

Update, the "Not BMC" guys take paint great! Most of the tan guys are US Marines, with a few Japanese poses as well.

I wanted to paint the tan US guys a light or olive green, to match most of my other Pacific US troops.

Great news! Regular spray paint adheres like crazy! (regular Krylon, not even the plastics stuff, just the cheap cans) No need to even use my Pactra Lexan RC car body paint (that stuff is designed to flex, great for figures, but espensive)

Different plastic than the Armies of the World, and most others like AIP. Stiff, but NOT the breakable type of Americana style.

Custer7thcav20 Feb 2014 3:39 p.m. PST

Just ordered 5 packs of them!

Smokey Roan20 Feb 2014 4:09 p.m. PST

Dang, Custer, what are you goind to do with 150 US Marines?

Custer7thcav20 Feb 2014 6:29 p.m. PST

Third world banana republic opfor to go against my. AIP moderns

Smokey Roan25 Feb 2014 7:13 p.m. PST

OK, got a pack of the Armies of the World Japanese.

They are the same poses as the Hing Fat and other knock offs, BUT, they are 54mm (not 51mm or 45mm), great molding, and have big square bases (big ones).

SUPERIOR to any of the Japanese Troops that you get in those 200 pc buckets and bags.

dBerczerk26 Feb 2014 7:23 a.m. PST

El Smokeyroan -- thank you for the feedback.

I have WWII Japanese in 54mm & 1/32 by TSSD, Britains, Marx, Airfix, BMC (60mm), Atlantic, Almark, CTS, and 21st Century in my collection.

I'm pretty hopeless when it comes to collecting Japanese and Chinese figures.

Hopefully, the Toy Soldier Depot will get in a re-stock soon.

Custer7thcav27 Feb 2014 9:10 p.m. PST

The not bmc marines are nice. Might pick up some more. Also picked up some airfix sas modern. And astronauts. Good service as expected.

Smokey Roan28 Feb 2014 5:40 p.m. PST

Gerardo is great when it comes to service!

I just hope he can find more Armies of the World sets!

Glad you liked those not BMC guys, Custer!

Custer7thcav28 Feb 2014 9:40 p.m. PST

I did Smokey. So much so that i ordered five more bags.

Smokey Roan02 Mar 2014 9:57 a.m. PST

The MPC US soldiers in gray or green are very cheap, and they are very sparsely equipted. Might look good as Thrid World Bad guys for you as well.

Custer7thcav02 Mar 2014 11:56 a.m. PST

Thought about that.

The not bmc marines have backpacks and will serve as an invading force from th nation of "Insania".

Smokey Roan02 Mar 2014 4:26 p.m. PST

What are you going to do about the tan and green? Paint the tan ones?

Custer7thcav02 Mar 2014 6:31 p.m. PST

Paint. Yes

Custer7thcav19 Mar 2014 4:00 p.m. PST

Picked up some very nice recasts of Marx us marines.

semperrandyfi28 Apr 2014 3:01 a.m. PST

Austin Miniatures will soon release an 8 figure WW2 U.S.M.C. set.Sculpting is very nice..nice indeed.

dBerczerk31 May 2014 11:15 a.m. PST

I was lucky enough to attend the "Heart of the South" Toy Soldier Show today in Annandale, Virginia.

Based upon Smokeyroan's review, I picked up the Chinese and the Free French sets of 1/32d scale figures -- each for $5.99 USD; from the Toy Soldier Depot stand.

They are both nice sets -- come packaged in a clear-plastic cylinder -- 17 pieces per cylinder.

Now if only they'd do a Martian cylinder too!

I look forward to seeing what they'll look like painted.
